RECENT EVENT: Wrap with Purpose: Harakeke Shroud Making Workshop

A Harakeke shroud is an alternative burial or cremation option that is suitable for Natural Burials or normal burial and cremation. These are made from the Native NZ Flax plant.

Come and Join us at our Harakeke Shroud making workshop in 2026

  • MARCH 28TH AND 29TH 2026

Immerse yourself in an inspiring, hands on demonstration of Harakeke shroud making with the talented artist Jane Johnson-Matua.

Jane is dedicated to creating sustainable materials for natural burials and passionately works with mixed media in 2D and 3D art forms. Join her as she delves into her deep connections to whānau, whakapapa, and whenua, using indigenous Harakeke for shroud making.

This workshop takes place over two days at the Arts Village in Rotorua and on the final day you will leave with a Harakeke shroud suitable for Natural Burial, burial or cremation.
